Does your story have anything to do with fruit diets?

Maybe I would have got on with Heraclitus. I don't seem to get on with anyone else.

Fortunately I get on great with my cat. He never leaves my side. Speaking of Heraclitus, death comes close to my family again. My uncle, now 89, seems to have had his innings. He fell again yesterday and an ambulance had to come. We all have this coming one day. Every day the body gets a little weaker. Time races by and our bodies fall like autumn leaves.

Would you want to go on forever?
Everything's new and exciting when we're children, then at some point we become more cynical.
Now in my 70th year I definitely have more bad days than good ones. What gets me out of bed in the mornings is a cup of coffee and a cigarette.
Still, today the sun's shining and that's always a treat...

I just did my second bike workout after illness. Amazing how it exposes a less efficient cardiovascular system. After 3 weeks inactivity I was gasping and only just managed to limp up the second hill. They say age has an impact on how quickly you lose fitness or muscle. Today I discovered my fitness level isn't so great. I need to build it up and should have more energy as a result.

"They" blame a lot of stuff on "age" when it is actually the lifestyle lived through the years of one's age.

I feel the same way. I've gained a LOT of weight in the past couple of years and it's horrible. I've gone up a dress size and had to buy new clothes. I prefer my old clothes and don't want to throw them out, but if I sit on a low stool I need assistance to get up again.

I'm concurrently what H calls lazy and what I experience as exhausted, in that I get on a bus for journeys I previously walked.
I realise that if I don't lift my game at this stage in my life, it'll be downhill all the way to the coffin.

The biggest issue is the Mirtazapine I take in order to sleep. It's notorious for weight gain. I stopped taking it every night and instead take it only as a last resort, ie. when it's 3am and I'm still not asleep AND for some reason I need to have my wits about me next day.

I have a health check next week at my GP surgery. Once again they'll tell me my cholesterol is 'too high' (they've lowered the threshhold considerably) and they'll want to put me on statins. Big Pharma is fighting for its life, with its major investment in people being ill.

At 70, the way to go might be resistance bands and hill walking. Or a stationary bike.
The lack of energy points to your cardiovascular fitness lowered, due to age. By moderate cardio exercise, that can improve. I'm lazy too, so I do cardio twice a week.
70 isn't that old for a female given you lot outlive us men by a decade or two.
Quit the cigarettes. If you must get a buzz, try magic mushrooms instead.

My vice was under eating. My illness probably was provoked by the freezing weather while not eating enough and still exercising. I decided to eat more, though very little meat.
