You'd be amazed how much occult and witchcraft content there is in Latin. It's just like the Polanski movie "The Ninth Gate" (Nona Porta). It's full of magic and witchcraft.
Yes, it interests me as a subject but I wouldn't dabble since philosophy has more to offer. If you tried to use magic for good purposes, such as healing, then that squares with philosophy. If you try to get what you desire, then philosophy doesn't condone magic.
At the time I was ill, I learned we got crystal balls from the Roman pagans use of mirrors. Mirrors were used with various incantations so the seers could see visions via the mirror.
Then you have the sexual content in Latin. Very graphic. Much of that could be ritualistic in initiations to pagan cults or as cures for various illnesses.
In the British Isles, the Druids used to govern various tribes. They were also given to incantations and potions.
Witchcraft always has interested me since, as a child, I was very psychic. So, I tend to believe spirits exist, or ghostly phenomena. At that time, it terrified me but these days unexplained phenomena doesn't scare me. I feel so in control of my balance I learned bad things happen only when you open yourself up to negative influences such as greed, anger or desire.

The Ninth Gate is a must watch and stars Johnny Dep as a book dealer. It's about three Latin books that together form a solution to a riddle. Funny thing is, Polanski has often done occult movies like Rosemary's Baby but he's often suffered tragedies, such as the murder of Sharon Tate by the Manson family.
Anyway, it's a good film.

"Witch" in Latin is "Maga Primi Nominis", whereas " Magus" is a sorcerer. Another word for "witch" is "anicula" , which means a crone or old lady of that type.
Some of the spells are described in texts, such as the use of certain stones or shrubs. Don't worry, though. I'm not about to become a magus.
