Re: I'm Back To Liven Things Up
As to the Jewish immigrants, my first job was in a Jewish family business of shops. They were very hard working and honest people, also became very rich. The old man had served in the war and then founded the business. It created jobs for shop staff and a small factory of sowers and clothes production. The way I see it they worked very hard and did become rich but if it's honest hard graft I think it's deserved. I think they took a hit in the 1980s recession, however. Still, I always felt Jewish immigrants integrated fine. Even Brian Epstein was Jewish and spotted opportunity in The Beatles.

Riots throughout major cities. All unleashed by the murder of three young girls. I think a lot has been gradually bottling up and there are various factors that unleashed social unrest. Politicians souped up Brexit, for example, and raised expectations of less immigration, yet they still haven't secured the borders at all. Then, add growing homelessness, welfare cuts, falling pound, educational cuts and so on. All of it creates tension. I think two big wars going on also creates insecurity and spills over.
I would say big reform is needed. Politicians have been milking a corrupt system for years and have lost trust through a divided, fragmented country.
Must admit, I never expected riots this bad.

There is no "political" solution to the problem. You cannot vote your way out of our problems.Candid wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 7:50 amYes. I voted Reform... for all the good it did.

The big question is, has this turned a major corner? Supposing the Labour government really are stupid enough to ban far-right groups. Given the percentage of totally alienated working classes that will just increase the anger. I think a major cause of the unrest was when they arrested Tommy Robinson over an initially peaceful London protest. Whereas other groups who march with placards that call for beheadings are left to March in peace. Robinson fled the country and so a lot of his sympathisers were already furious. Then came the murders and all hell broke loose. So, banning far right groups is very shaky territory and could even trigger a virtual civil war.
Shame police got injured. Not an easy job for them.

Nice to see Elon Musk slam Starmer. He called him a two-tier hypocrite. I notice the media is milking the mistaken identity of the teen, who murdered the three girls, to connect all of the anger with just a single misunderstanding. Not true, and Musk seems aware of that. I think the anger is a mix of ongoing racial incidents in those cities, as well as economic decline, social decline and the Covid lockdowns. Plus it really bottled up when a peaceful London protests led to arrest of the organizer, despite no initial issues. So, Musk is laying into Starmer big-time . There is more he could tweet. How about calling him a "pompous, upper class, arrogant little p***k".

Sir Keir wants to enforce the next round of lethal injections. I'm not keen on that, either!Fulgurator wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 10:22 pm Supposing the Labour government really are stupid enough to ban far-right groups. He's just been prostrating himself pleading with Iran not to attack.
I somehow get the feeling if Iran does attack Israel very possibly we'll see the difference between America as a military and Israel. Israelis are very organised and effective whereas America never seems to win wars. Even the Bay Of Pigs was pretty mediocre.
I'm hoping the Israelis will flatten Iran outright.

If anyone is interested, this does appear to be an interesting channel, called "The Israel Guys". It takes you right into Gaza. The claim is here that Egypt has been supplying tons of weapons to Hamas via tunnels close between the border. America knew a lot more than was assumed and was set against the Israelis discovering Egypt's role.
The video here shows you Gaza from within.
