It seems possible to befriend wild birds. I hope to build more bird houses. It was a real shame about the jackdaw and would have been worse if the cat had been the cause of his death. It was, however, a car so the bird was just too tame and maybe had been raised by a bird fancier. He was a very sociable bird and no idea where he'd come from.

Turns out the jackdaw isn't dead at all and who knows why someone would consider it a joke to tell fibs. The bird has apparently been collected by some people who looked after him in their garden. If it wasn't a bad taste joke, possibly it was another bird that had been run over. So, hopefully the jackdaw is home and well.
