India Chandrayaan And The Blow To Conspiracy Theory

Post by Fulgurator »

"In a considerable downer for space conspiracy theorists, Chandrayaan-1’s terrain-mapper camera has recorded images of the landing site of US spaceship Apollo 15 and tracks of its lunar rovers that were used by astronauts to travel on moon’s surface nearly four decades ago, a scientist said Wednesday."

Yes, it is a blow for the scores of conspiracy experts who stated on their highly popular blogs and forums that Apollo missions never happened. Even, taking that aside, both Japan and India have landed at least an unmanned craft each on the lunar surface and released footage. Russia failed - it's no longer a shadow of the USSR.
I suppose out of sheer desperation the online theorists might at some point go on to claim both India and Japan also staged their missions.
We should be very wary of how social media has been displacing science.

At the time, it was hard for me to translate this ( below) The ancients stressed all our psychological disorders are rooted in ignorance, which I'll explain:

"et inperitiae morbum ex gloriosa iactatione contingere, cum eorum, quorum ignarus est, doctrinam aliquis scientiamque mentitur;"
"The disorder of lack of awareness arises from grand-standing by those who distort the theory and science of others (by misunderstanding it).

This is rife today. It's never been so bad. David Icke's a great example (conspiracy theorist). His followers are unaware that Icke got his theories by copying the ideas of Zecharia Sitchin but wildly misunderstanding his conclusions.
In extreme cases, we become victims of delusion when we unknowingly allow the ideas of a majority to appear solid and rational. This happened in religion where the identity of the historical Jesus became lost when the church "created" orthodoxy (a but like the Da Vinci code). Millions and millions of people made the mistake of viewing ancient history through the lense of modern culture. Millions of people were convinced millions of others had to be right.
